Crafts
Crafts are a great activity for your child. They help promote self expression and creativity and build self confidence. If you are looking for ideas check out our free craft ideas page. Even better, check out our craft kits page for pre-kitted crafts with everything you need shipped directly to your home.
Play a Game
Anything can be turned into a game. Some are obvious like hide and go seek, others are just simple things like cleaning or folding laundry. We listed some favorite games on our Preschool Games page.
Color and Paint
Kids love to color and paint. Don't just stick to standard crayons and markers, let your child explore with chalk on the sidewalk, fingerpainting, stamping, bath paints, clay-dough, sponge painting...etc.
Reading
Kids love to read along with you. Kids books are a great place to start, but there are things to read everywhere. Read the newspaper or a magazine with them, read signs on the road, read the cereal box, read the instructions on a toy before letting them play with it. If you read a story to your child a few times, they will remember the story by heart.
Music Time
Music will entertain your child for hours. We have listed some of our favorites on our preschool songs page. But dont stop there. Try playing with musical instruments we listed some on our music page.
Cooking
Teach your child how to cook. Kids can perform simple tasks like mixing and pouring with a little help for an adult. What can you cook with your child? Try some of the recipes on our kids recipe page.
Our Crafts are very affordable!
Counting
There are things to count everywhere. Count cheerios in a bowl, coins from your pocket, people in a room. Teach your child to count and have fun doing it. Once they have mastered counting, try moving to addition and subtraction, if you eat one cheerio, how many will be left?
Collecting
You can collect all kinds of things around the house (sometimes its called cleaning!) collect toys, books, clothes. Outside your child can collect rocks, flowers, (some boys like collecting bugs :-) ). Parents will need to supervise what your child is collecting. Collect them in a bag or basket and count them later!
Dancing
Kids love to dance. Try doing the hokey-pokeyi, macarena, chicken dance or ring around the roses. Jumping, hopping, skipping and spinning can be turned into a dance, all you need is to turn up the music!
NATURE WALK
OUR CHILDREN LOVE TO GO OUT TO PARKS THAT HAVE A LOT OF GREENERY AND RIVER LOOKING OUT TO SEE ALL THE CRITTER, BUGS, BIRDS AND THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TREES AND ROCK YOU CAN HAVE THEM SEE WHAT THEY LIKE ABOUT BEING THERE AND COLLECT ITEMS TO COME BACK HOME WITH. MAKE SURE TO HAVE A FIRSTAID KIT, NET TO CATCH INSECT,BUGS, PLASTIC CONTAINER, GOOD CONFORTABLE SHOES AND GO OUT AND ADVENTURE

Water Hide and Seek
You tell your child to hide while you count and you try find them by spraying the hose around and then when you spray your child they say "it" and then you trade places!

Feel and Guess
Gather items in a kitchen bowl such as fingernail clippers, rubber band, cotton ball, spoon, etc..
Just small stuff from around the house. Then blindfold your child and ask them to reach in the bowl, grab an item and feel it so they can tell you what it is.

Huckle-Buckle Beanstalk
Pick a small object, like a matchbox car or eraser, and have a child hide it,(but so you can see a little bit of the object) while the other children are waiting in another room. When the child is done hiding the objetc, the other kids have to go out and try to find it. The hider has to say if the seekers are cold- far away,
warm- closer, or hot-very close by. Whoever finds the object must yell Huckle Buckle Beanstalk, then it is their tern to hide the object.

Scavenger Hunt
Give each child a small plastic bag to put their things in that they have to go outside and look for. Make a list for each child with a box to tick off items as they locate them. Some things to look for could be a birds\' feather, a smooth pebble, a piece of paper, a blue/yellow/green petal, a peg, a brown/green leaf, etc etc.
For older kids you can devise items that are harder to obtain. ie\' birds nest, cobweb, etc

Crayon Rubbings
You will need paper, assorted crayons without paper on, various textured materials (tile, sponge, sandpaper, doilies, carpet, etc.).
Place textured material underneath paper and rub crayon on paper. The texture will come through.
This is a really engaging activity for preschool aged children. It is a good opportunity to talk to children about applying pressure to the crayon and how the color darkens as more pressure is applied, and the reverse. It is also \"instant\" and something the children create that they really seem to like.
-----I recommend that you have a good number of materials to provide the children with. They can go quickly through the ones they are no so impressed with.
